How to use Eggshells in your Garden (and why)

In your garden, you can use eggshells to help your plants grow.

Keep the eggshells when you crack a few eggs for breakfast or baking. They can be a great organic addition to your garden, so don't throw them in the trash. With a high level of calcium, crushed eggshells can help plants grow. The sun is finally out, which means it's a great time to get outside and use an old-fashioned kind of egg.

PLANTS NEED POTS FOR GERMINATION TO GROW IN.

Making your own eggshell planters for seedlings to nest in and grow is a cheap and long-term way to start gardening. Organic eggshells are full of calcium, which helps plants grow. When you're ready to bring them outside, you can put the whole shell in the ground, where it will help both the soil and your plants grow. To make the best use of the space in your eggshell planters, we suggest growing small plants like herbs and flowers.

INSTRUCTIONS:

You should start saving your eggshells from breakfast so that they can be used for something. They should be cut in half and rinsed out well.

The base of each eggshell needs to have a small hole in it for drainage.

You can do this with a teaspoon. Add some seed compost to the shell of the egg. When you use a special seed compost, the root system can grow freely, which leads to a strong and healthy plant.

It's time to plant the seeds in the soil. Gently push the soil down to cover the seeds. Herbs are a lot of fun and easy to grow. If you like basil and parsley, cress and chives, you might like to add them to your food as well

Spray each eggshell with water with a spray bottle every two to three days.

When your seedlings have grown a few inches tall, it's time to move them into your garden or into a pot. Make sure the outside of the egg is gently smashed. Then plant the eggshell in the new pot or garden, making sure it is completely buried. Your plants will get a lot of extra nutrients from the eggshell when it breaks down in the soil. This will make them both healthy and strong.

FERTILISER

The shell of a chicken egg is made up of about 96% calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Calcium is an important plant nutrient and helps keep soil acidic. Plants that grow quickly use up a lot of calcium in the soil. Egg shells are a good supplement and feed for your garden's flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees.

During the winter, crush the shells with a mortar and pestle and sprinkle them over the container or garden border where you plan to plant in the spring. This will help the plants grow better. You can also add crumbled eggshell to the bottoms of your planting holes. In order to grow your own vegetables and plants, like tomatoes, peppers, and aubergines with egg shells, you need to put them in the ground. You can also put them in the ground to help your plants grow.

Another way to add this homemade fertiliser to your plants is to mix calcium with water. You can finely crush the shells and turn them into water-soluble calcium that can be added to your watering can. The plant's root system will be able to quickly take in the calcium, which will help it grow.

It is a way to keep pests away.

Egg shells can also be used as an organic way to get rid of pests. To get rid of bugs that like to crawl around in your garden, try putting crumbled eggshells around the plants where they like to hide. The shells act like shards of glass, which will keep them away from your plants that are fragile.

If you're growing brassicas, the egg shells are also thought to keep cabbage white butterflies away. They think the white sheen on the leaves is a sign of other competitors, so they avoid the plants. You can use egg shells if your cat likes to use your garden bed as a litter box. Cats don't like walking on noisy, sticky, or sharp things.
