Midsummer Flower Arranging To Harness My Feminine Energy
I typically get my flowers from flower shops around Bristol, or from Bloom & Wild… However, there are days when you pop into the grocery store, and just want something quick and easy for the home.
As I have had the privilege of watching one of my clients in her florist shop, I have been able to pick up a trick or two, and have been able to make my average grocery store flowers look a bit more special.
Here is what I have learned:
1. Split them up into different groups.
"One type of flower always looks stronger and more expensive than a bunch of different kinds. You want to avoid an arrangement like a fruit salad."
2. The vase is very important.
"You can always make your arrangement stand out more by using a unique vase. Simple flowers in a nice vase look a lot better. I love big bowls made of glass and small cups made of gold.
3. Line up some bud vases.
"Place single stems of flowers in simple bud vases and line them up along a dining room table. The look is very clean and stylish, and it's a great way to make a bouquet last longer.
4. Learn a Trick About Leaves from Your Florist
"Line the inside of a clear vase with leaves to make an elegant base and hide the stems."
5. Put together two bouquets
"Pairing two sets of flowers with colours that go well together is the best way to make an arrangement look full for as little money as possible. If you combine a red rose with an orange rose, you can make a beautiful centrepiece with 24 flowers for just $50
6. Use filler, and use it in the right way.
"Start by putting greenery in the arrangement, and then add flowers in a way that looks good all around. The best way to instantly improve your bouquet is to arrange it well."
7. Do a Little Proportion Play: "Use a taller vase and spread the flowers out more to make a grander arrangement that makes a statement." Sunflowers are great for this because their stems are strong and they spread out nicely.
