3 Simple Festive Activities To Do As A Couple This Holiday Season

Are you still a bit reserved about heading out into the hustle and bustle this holiday season? So much has changed over the last 2 years. And we are constantly left feeling like either we won’t be keeping ourselves the safest, and perhaps will be putting ourselves in a position of potentially catching covid.

Or, on the opposite end, we also find that when we go out and are taking all precautions possible… it tends to distract from the experience.

There is only so much hands sanitising, wet wipes, and masks that one person can do.

So this year we are trying to keep festive with as many things possible, at home, or outdoors.
I have made some festive candles with my girlfriends, and we have got some wreath making coming up soon.

But, I also wanted to do some things that was going to put us in a festive mood as a couple.
Here are a few things that we are doing this holiday season.

  1. Making festive drinks together — This may sound a bit plain, or not that revolutionary. But what we have learned is, often to take advantage of these moments we need to ensure that we have the appropriate ingredients on hand.

We often won’t run out to the store to just grab a lemon, or some cloves. But having these things on hand allows us to seize the moment when it strikes.

    2. Heading out on a festive Christmas trail - We didn’t just do this as a couple this year, but also went with Paul’s sister & company. This was a lovely experience, and I had never done anything like it before.

It can totally be done as a double date — I will say it’s only down fall is, often these trails are a bit of a ways away from the city. And therefore, someone will need to be a designated driver. With that being said, you can often get your fill with mulled wine, mulled cider, bratwurst and walk around the trail.

Some trails have carollers, some trails just play festive music. What I found was, the trails that were a little bit of a pricey admission had the music that you would like to hear. The other trails, that perhaps didn’t have as big of a budget weren’t playing music, due to licensing.

3. Host an intimate but festive dinner - I have only entertained a handful of times in our home here in England.

Truth is, the house still has some renovations to be done, and as someone who is quite a house proud… I often find it a bit difficult to see past these things that need completion. And that stops me from inviting people over.

With saying that, as Paul is 99.9% of the time the designated driver, I wanted to invite a few friends over and have a good dinner and a few drinks with them. And allow Paul the chance to enjoy himself as well.

I absolutely love shopping at Aldi, no matter what time of the year. But if you are on a budget Aldi has some truly special Christmas offers that allow you to cook something special, regardless of your skill level.

Of course, we know that Mark’s & Spencer & Waitrose offer these things all of the time, but I truly believe that Aldi is a hidden gem here.

What are you doing as a couple this holiday season, leave us your ideas so we can take part in them too next holiday season.
