9 Classy Date Night Activities For Couples Who Are Sick Of Going To The Movies

If you are on a level-up journey and are in a committed relationship... You may be thinking "what are date night ideas" that are classy?

In this post, we will be going over 9 different fun date night ideas, for the classy, elegant couple.

But here is the best part - you don't actually need to be the fanciest person to feel classy! The following activities can even be experienced by the 'average Joe'.

With that, we can promise you that you won't feel like a fish out of the water while doing them. So, if you're ready for your classy date night idea list, here we go:

1. WINE & PAINT NIGHT:

Have you ever gone to a "Sip & Paint" night? If you are new to the concept, let us tell you a bit about it:

At these events, you will receive a blank canvas, & some paint. As well as a helpful instructor to help walk you through the experience.

You definitely do not need to be an artisté to have fun at these events. In fact, if you aren't artistically inclined, you may end up laughing your way through the entire class. Which is obviously fun for those involved.

If you google "Paint & Sip Near Me" or " Wine & Paint Night Near Me" you will find all options local to you. The key to this experience is, finding businesses that are offering this experience in an elegant location... or at least as elegant as possible.

We have gone to events like this that were in an Art Gallery, it was trés chic! But we have also gone to an event like this that was in a dimly lit pub.

One of those said experiences was a lot more classy & leveled up than the other.

2. GOING TO THE THEATRE.. AND WE DON'T MEAN THE MOVIE TYPE

Have you ever gone to a live performance? Depending on if you are attending your local Hippodrome... or if you are visiting your local dinner theatre this is a very classy choice.

One of the things that I have found is that here in the UK theater experiences are much more affordable than they were in the Prairies of Canada.

Furthermore, be it known that the UK is quite small in comparison to Alberta, Canada. Even if I had to drive to London to see a show, it would take sufficiently less time than it would for me to drive or take a train... than it would have done if I was driving to the next closest city in Alberta.

Why do I bring this us? Because even if something is a fair distance away, why not make a weekend trip out of it. Get an Airbnb, book those theater tickets, and find a classy restaurant to enjoy while you are there.

3. GOING TO THE ORCHESTRA

Years ago, well before I lived in England, I remember seeing a YouTube video of an impromptu Orchestra. The coolest part, it was put on in a car park! People showed up at sunset, with their bottles of wine, and nibbles. And the acoustics were something heavenly.

Needless to say, as this was such an impromptu performance, I have yet to experience it. nevertheless, the Orchestra is at the top of my classy & elegant date night out list.

Although, one of my fondest memories of the summer lockdown of 2021. I went on a walk with my husband and we stumbled across a 4 string quartet playing outside of their home. This was at a time when we were not allowed to go into the homes of others.

It brought so much emotion to the current situation that the world was in, It was so beautiful to witness! Have you been to an orchestra?

I FILMED A SMALL CLIP OF THIS STREET-STREET QUARTET. YOU CAN WATCH THAT CLIP HERE.

4. VISITING A WINERY OR VINEYARD

Depending on what your day-to-day activities look like. Or depending on what your profession is, it is easy to not have events to 'dress up' for.

Unless you are in the season of life where the majority of your friends are getting married. Or as before mentioned, if you have a job where you are attending Gala's or other events where you can get dressed up.

The 'average' couple does not have black tie events to attend every weekend. But there are still activities that we can engage in that will allow us to spiff up a bit!

This is one of the reasons my husband and I love visiting local wineries.

What do we look for in a winery?

Well, we look for a winery that is as rare pure, and natural. We look for wineries who naturally ferment their wine, as opposed to adding huge amounts of sugar.

What we have found is, when searching for wineries that fall into these parameters:

1. It allows us to enjoy the wine, without getting drunk. Or better yet, having a hangover.

2. Most commercial wines these days have tons of added sugar, and that is what sends up the alcohol content. Which also is what gives you the worst hangover.

Why do you drink wine? Is it because you would like to get drunk? Or is it because you would like to enjoy the drink that you are drinking?

When we cannot find a winery that falls into these parameters, we will often try to see if they have a lodging option. Then this way we can stay the night, and not have to worry about how we will return home.

As wineries tend to be somewhere a bit rural, this is something to consider in advance.

5. TRY A FOOD PAIRING MENU

We all know that you can go to a nice restaurant, but doesn't this get a bit repetitive? One of the ways that we have been enjoying our dining experiences is by opting for the food-pairing menu.

Why is this a much more elegant way of dining? Because when you opt for a taste pairing menu, it will come with the accompanying drink.

This is such a harmonious experience because the drink will bring out flavors and notes. This will make the experience a harmonious melody, and your tastebuds will thank you for it!

6. VISIT AN ART GALLERY.

If you live in the UK you truly have zero excuses. As most of the Art Gallery's here are free this is something that you can do even if you are on the tightest of budgets. We find that if you are a couple who are at the beginning of your level up journey, the Art Gallery's & Musuem's are a great place to start.

Let us tell you why;

If you are wanting to level up your surroundings, but also not also feel out of place... definitely start here.

Think about it, it's not that threatening to visit an Art Gallery... is it?

The thing is if you are a beginner on your level-up journey, and you haven't had much experience with the finer things in life. Or rather, the elegant things in life, you may feel like an imposter or a fraud when going to classy & elegant places.

Art Gallery's & Museums are such a great way to dip your toe into the pool of class & elegance.

Furthermore, have you ever found yourself in a group of people.. And during the conversation, you feel like there isn't anything interesting that you can contribute?

We have found that by broadening our horizons with art, history, and culture we rarely find ourselves wondering what we can contribute to the conversation.

THIS IS WHAT WE DID THIS AUTUMN WHEN WE VISITED OUR LOCAL ART GALLERY & MUSEUM. YOU CAN WATCH THAT VIDEO HERE.

ORCHESTRA AT THE ART GALLERY... DID YOU LIKE THAT SEGUE?

I am constantly served ads on Facebook & Instagram with local Candlelit events. These ads are often geotargeted and are promoting the event at the Museum here in Bristol. Or at the Art Gallery over in Bath.

Experiences such as this are so lovely because it is enticing many of your senses at once. To start, you are surrounded by a stunning location, with elegant things.

You are listening to the most harmonious and elegant music.
And if they are serving wine, your palate will be pleased as well.

At these events, they typically use flameless candles. This will typically be addressed in the fine print of your booking.

Of course, it would be so much more lovely if real candles were used... Could you imagine the aroma that would be dispersed through the air? It would make the experience play to your senses even more!

But nonetheless, it is still an amazing experience. Perhaps if we are so keen on it being real candles, we should hire out a 4 string quartet and throw a soiree at home!
... And now we have caught ourselves daydreaming!

Back to these Candlelit events... We do find that these sessions are a little bit short, coming in at around 45 mins.

With saying this, you can always make this just a mere stop on your classy date night out. Perhaps you experience this candlelit orchestra, and then find an upmarket restaurant that is close to the venue?

This is just another way you can 'zhuzh' up your date night.

Like we recommended earlier, all you have to do is type into google "Candlelit Orchestra Near Me", and you will find what options are local to you.

8. GO ON A DINNER CRUISE

There can be something completely sensual, but also sacred with dining out.

But if we were being honest, we know that it is typically what every couple does when they are going on a date night out.

But we hope that by reading this post in search of date night ideas for classy couples you have found a few suggestions.

So let's chat about heading out for dinner. Of course, you will want to find somewhere that has great reviews. Most likely a place that isn't serving fast food.

A place where you can get dressed up a little bit.

But one thing that we find that takes our elegant date nights up a notch is if the dining experience is a little bit unusual.

Okay, that sounds a bit weird, so let us explain. Have you ever dined out on a dinner cruise? Obviously, this is very location-dependent.

However, it is quite the experience! We have even heard that some venus that offers, and or allows you to rent the entire boat out!

Does this not 'shout' classy proposal vibes?

Usually for occasions such as this, they will drive the boat up and down the body of water for a certain period of time. Once that time is up, they will dock the boat again. And you will be able to enjoy the rest of your meal from a stationary position.

We have even attended events such as this where there was live music...

Yes, we know you must be thinking -- that must have been out of this world!

Being able to take in good food, with a good view, with an even better company is definitely a memory that will dance across your mind for years to come.

9. VISIT A POETRY READING

This is something that we've heard about for years, but we thought it may be a little corny.

After all, this post is supposed to be about 'elegant date night ideas for couples’, not 'cheesy date night's for couples'... right?

With that being said, just this past summer whilst walking the streets of Bath we were invited to come into this art studio and experience an event.

In all honesty, we think the event didn't get the numbers that they hoped for, so they were casually pulling people in from off the street.

There was a gentleman playing an instrument, and a lady reciting a poem.

And it was pure bliss!

... It was not tacky, cheesy, or corny in the slightest.

We are on the hunt to find more experiences like this. But it definitely seems like something that may be a little bit more about who you know, rather than searching these events out. Because we have yet to find further information on similar events.
