The Old Money Assignment September 2022

Hello Ladies & Gents,

Thank you for joining me for another Old Money Assignment. In the month of September, I put together 4 assignments that we could work towards this month that could lead us to living a more ‘Old Money Lifestyle.

Now, I am not unaware of the fact that if we do not come from Old Money families…we will never be Old Money ourselves. However, by learning some of the life lessons from Byron Tully’s book, ‘The Old Money Book”, we can see how we can apply certain principles to our lives to live better, all while spending less.

By implementing these philosophies, we are able to live in an Old Money way, even if we are no money.
So let’s chat about the first assignment this month.

1. TRY OUT PILATES -

If you have not read the Old Money Book, you may want to watch the video that I created discussing one of the core values of Old Money, which is health.

I am currently on my own health and fitness journey and am trying to get myself as healthy as possible before embarking on our IVF journey.

Unfortunately, I have a few health conditions that restrict me from doing many high-impact exercises. And therefore I am always on the hunt to try and find ways that I can work out without injuring myself further.

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a series of repetitious exercises done on a yoga mat or reformer to encourage strength, stability, and flexibility, according to its definition.

Pilates workouts build the body by requiring the muscles to work from the core outward. The method develops body awareness to facilitate fluid, effective movements that are used in daily life. Because of this, Pilates has gained popularity among dancers, but it also has a wider appeal. Joseph Pilates created the Pilates Method in the 1920s.

One of my new clients has a Pilates reformer studio, and I will be taking sessions with her alongside doing pilates at home. Have you tried out Pilates before?

There are so many free videos on YouTube, you must give it a go!

2. READ ‘LONG LIVE THE QUEEN - 23 RULES FOR LIVING FROM BRITAIN’S LONGEST-REIGNING MONARCH ‘

Although The Queen was to have no political opinions, many people around the world can tend to look at The Monarchy as a sign of politics.

This is not what we are discussing here, however, we are looking at the life of The Queen Elizabeth, and reading all about her life of service in Bryan Kozlowski’s book. Reviewing this book could not have come at a more fitting time, as this month the entire world watched the proceedings of her funeral.

The pageantry. The tradition. The legacy.

"Does this crown make me look old?” said the Queen never.

Her longevity, health, and physical stamina are legendary. The longest reigning monarch in British history, Elizabeth II spent over half a century on the throne, rarely taking a sick day and, in her tenth decade, remained amazingly comfortable in her own skin. How does one do it, Ma’am?

For the first time, step behind Palace doors to unlock the little-known strategies behind the Queen’s remarkable self-preservation. Investigating the 23 rules of her iconic resilence, you’ll learn how to channel your inner royal – at work, at play, or at the table – in this fascinating plunge into the House of Windsor’s famous fountain of youth.

Extensively researched and delightfully revelatory, it’s the story of how one strong queen can make stronger, happier, healthier subjects of us all. Long live you!

3. REPLACE ONE ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE THIS SEASON -

Some of us shop a little bit too much, and some of us don’t shop enough. Here is what I have noticed, oftentimes, many of us like shopping for certain things… but then other essential items that are a part of our daily life routine… we don’t replace them in appropriate time frames.

We wear these things past their prime. And they completely downgrade our appearance. Old Money dresses well. This doesn’t necessarily mean flashy, but it does mean elegant, clean, and well-fitting.

I asked you all to choose one item from your wardrobe, and not only replace this item, but invest in this item.
For myself, this meant that I needed to throw out the cheap, ripped, ill-fitting trench coach that I bought two years ago… and finally buy one of better quality.

I picked up this trench coat from Jack Wills for a total of £105. I had initially intended on buying a jacket that was a bit more expensive, and perhaps from Karen Millen. However, there was nothing that was really jumping out at me.

Elevate your outfit with the Jack Wills trench. Crafted with a tie waist, wide lapel and soft fold-over collar for a classic trench coat design complete with two side pockets to keep your essentials handy whilst you're on the go. We will always be a fan of the timeless heritage look, looking forever on-trend.

And I also realized that my wardrobe was begging for a transitional jacket. In the colder months, I already have my eyes on a lovely jacket from The House of Bruar.

What item did you replace this month?
